Frequently Asked Questions
To help you feel confident in choosing Pulse Home Health & Hospice, we've answered the most common questions families ask about our services.
Home health care allows seniors to receive skilled nursing, therapies, and medical support in the familiar comfort of their own home, promoting faster healing, reducing stress, and helping maintain daily routines and independence. Being at home significantly lowers the risk of hospital-acquired infections, eliminates travel challenges for those with limited mobility, and provides one-on-one attention from caregivers. Families often find home health more cost-effective and convenient, with personalized care plans tailored to individual needs — and the emotional benefit of keeping loved ones surrounded by their own belongings, memories, and family.
We provide a wide range of services including skilled nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, certified nursing assistant support, and medical social work under our Home Health program — plus bereavement support, hospice certified nursing, emotional and spiritual guidance, and hospice medical social work through our Hospice Care program. Our goal is comprehensive, personalized support for every patient.

According to "The Patient's Bill of Rights," you can decide which physical, occupational, and speech therapy provider you choose for your care. Although many physicians recommend a particular organization, you are under no obligation to follow that recommendation. The choice is yours.
Most home health and hospice services at Pulse are fully covered by Medicare for eligible patients — including skilled nursing, physical/occupational/speech therapy, medical social work, and hospice care when medical criteria are met, with no copays or deductibles for approved home health episodes in most cases. We are also in-network with many private insurance plans, Medicaid (including Louisiana Medicaid waivers), and VA benefits. Our team verifies coverage and obtains necessary authorizations before services begin to minimize out-of-pocket costs.
Many seniors qualify for Medicare, which fully covers medically necessary home health services. At Pulse, we are Medicare-certified and prioritize helping families access these benefits. If Medicare or Medicaid eligibility does not apply, we offer private pay options with transparent pricing. Our team can also assist in exploring Louisiana Medicaid waivers and other community programs to make compassionate care accessible.
In-home occupational therapy helps seniors regain and maintain independence with everyday activities (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and household tasks — all in the comfort of home. Therapists assess physical, cognitive, and environmental barriers, then create personalized plans using adaptive techniques, exercises, and tools to improve strength, coordination, fine motor skills, and safety.
A speech-language pathologist (SLP) assesses, diagnoses, and treats communication disorders and swallowing difficulties. They work to improve speech clarity, language understanding and expression, voice quality, fluency (e.g., reducing stuttering), and cognitive-communication skills like memory and problem-solving. Therapy is personalized and designed to help individuals communicate effectively and safely in daily life.
